7-Eleven Malaysia’s revenue improves

Convenience store chain 7-Eleven Malaysia‘s revenue grew 5.1 per cent to RM2.93 billion (US$655.9 million) last year.

Its gross profit increased 4.2 per cent to RM902.7 million while gross profit margin remained stable at 30.9 per cent.

The company also swung to a post-tax profit from continuing operations of RM38.5 million from a loss in the prior year.

During the fourth quarter, revenue jumped 7.4 per cent to RM745.5 million, mainly due to the net addition of 69 new stores and a boost in year-end holiday season sales.

7-Eleven noted that Malaysia witnessed growth in overall investment activities, goods exports, tourism and household spending.

The group said it has an optimistic outlook for this year with the anticipated increase in overall consumer spending.

It added that it is committed to expand its private label portfolio to serve the growing number of value-driven consumers.
