Australia’s ONA finds its home in Dubai’s Jumeirah

ONA has launched its first international outlet in Dubai, aiming to redefine coffee culture through bespoke flavour experiences, reflecting its commitment to quality and sustainability

ONA, a prominent name in Australia’s speciality coffee scene, has opened its inaugural international outlet in Jumeirah, Dubai, marking a significant expansion for the brand.

The new establishment aims to deliver an unparalleled coffee experience in a city renowned for its culinary diversity.

At the heart of ONA’s philosophy is the belief that coffee should be approached through flavour rather than traditional formats.

Guests are not prompted with standard choices; instead, they engage in a dialogue that begins with their coffee type preference, followed by flavour profiles. This bespoke approach is complemented by an immersive coffee bar, designed to allow exploration across a variety of coffees, while skilled baristas enhance the experience with their expertise.

Distinct areas within the venue, such as the Sensory Room for flavour education and a Private Events Space for gatherings, create a versatile atmosphere that encourages both relaxation and learning. Additionally, the Outdoor Terrace fosters a connection with the surrounding community.

Founded by Sasa Šestić, the 2015 World Barista Champion, ONA’s roots trace back to Canberra, where the company prioritises sustainable sourcing through its own Honduran farm, Finca Beti and partnerships with over 200 producers across multiple coffee-growing regions.

“Dubai has always had really strong energy around coffee,” says Šestić. “The community is a great mix of locals and expats who are curious and open to trying new things, and there’s a genuine appreciation for flavour and hospitality, which made it feel like the right place for ONA’s first home outside Australia.”

Šestić added, “There’s also a real sense of optimism in Dubai. Even with everything happening around the world, people here are still coming together, supporting communities and connecting through hospitality and culture. That felt important to us. ONA has always been built around people and relationships – whether that’s with the farmers and producers we work with around the world, or the communities that grow around our spaces.”

This expansion into Dubai embodies ONA’s dedication to fostering connections and curiosity within the coffee community.
