Barn’s kickstarts international expansion with Bahrain store

The fast-growing Saudi Arabian coffee chain said Bahrain will act as a ‘gateway’ to the wider Gulf region as it targets further overseas expansion across the Middle East.

Saudi Arabian coffee chain Barn’s has opened its first international store in Janabiyah in northwest Bahrain.

Barn’s, which reached 700 stores across Saudi Arabia with a new site in Jeddah in April 2024, said expansion into the ‘vibrant’ Bahraini market signifies a ‘bold step towards international growth’ as it seeks to reach 1,000 outlets globally by 2030.

In a press release, Barn’s said Bahrain is not only a ‘thriving market with a burgeoning coffee culture’ but also a ‘gateway to the Gulf region’.

“I am delighted to announce the international debut of our brand, commencing with our inaugural station in Bahrain and forthcoming expansion into other Arab nations. I have utmost confidence in our team’s capabilities to executive this strategic move seamlessly on a global scale,” said Mohammed Alzain, CEO, Barn’s.

Barn’s plans to establish a presence in a further 10 markets within the next few years and has agreements in place to launch in Oman and Malaysia.

The rapidly growing coffee chain is also exploring opportunities in Egypt and the UAE, as well as the US and Europe.

World Coffee Portal research forecasts the total Bahraini branded coffee shop market, led by Starbucks with 55 stores, will reach 235 outlets by 2027.
