Filipino coffee chain Coffee Buddy has entered the Indian market after securing its master franchise for the country, marking the start of its global expansion push. The brand has opened its first outlet in Mumbai.
Coffee Buddy is now offering unit franchises across India with a compact kiosk format aimed at high streets, malls and commercial hubs.
The expansion in India is franchise-led, with listings indicating an initial investment cost of about INR 22–25 lakh, and a franchise fee near INR 4.5 lakh. Operating under a five-year contract, the brand provides a payback window of 12–15 months (some listings cite 2–3 years). The format requires an area of 250–350 sq. ft. and is being pitched to city and regional partners across North, South, East, West, Central India and Union Territories.
Commenting on Coffee Buddy’s India entry, Mr. Gaurav Marya, Chairman, Franchise India Group, said, “Coffee Buddy’s journey from an online seller of coffee beans and ground coffee in the Philippines to an emerging international café brand in Asia reflects the ambition and commitment of its founders. Its entry into India through a franchise-led model is an important milestone in the brand’s global expansion strategy. With India’s rapidly evolving café culture and growing demand for accessible, high-quality food and beverage experiences, Coffee Buddy is well positioned to build a strong presence with 130 stores in 2 years and will bring its distinctive offering to communities across the country.”
Established in 2019 in the Philippines, Coffee Buddy positions India as a key international market as it scales beyond its home base. Its entry as India’s branded coffee shop market continues to grow rapidly, with homegrown and regional chains driving the next phase of expansion.
