South Korean coffee giant Ediya Coffee has officially embarked on new international expansion with the opening of its first store in Toronto, Canada.
Ediya currently operates more than 3000 locations in its domestic market, and says it is also targeting the launch of locations in other new markets including Laos and Malaysia.
Its first Canadian outlet, located inside Thornhill’s Galleria supermarket, was chosen due to a large Korean population and rising interest in Korean food and culture, according to the company.
Ediya says it plans to assess initial market response to the first location before potentially opening up to three stores in Canada by the end of 2026.
Other international coffee brands that have elected to enter the North American market through Canada in recent years include fellow South Korean chain theVenti, Japan’s % Arabica, and Vietnam’s Cộng Cà Phê.
