The Australian fitness franchise Strong Pilates is moving to launch in Singapore, with exclusive partner Yoga Movement.
The partnership will see 11 Strong Pilates studios open in the city state over three to four years.
Pilates is among the top five fitness choices in Singapore alongside cycling, yoga, strength training and boxing.
Strong Pilates is a full body workout in a high-intensity 45-minute class. It uses a purpose built Rowformer to combine Pilates and rowing.
Founders Michael Ramsey and Mark Armstrong said they are looking forward to growing in a new market.
“We share core values with Yoga Movement and believe this will be very complementary to its existing member base, and based on demand, the wider community.”
Strong Pilates Singapore partner Yoga Movement is well established
Strong Pilates partners Peter Thew and Alicia Pan established Yoga Movement in 2012. Today the Southeast Asian brand has more than 85,000 members across its nine locations.
“We’re thrilled to enhance our offering to include Strong Pilates,” Thew and Pan said. “Last year, Yoga Movement saw a total of 365,000 attendances to classes. We are projected to see more than half a million visits this coming year.”
International growth
Late 2022 the brand announced its upcoming launch in the UK with mega plans – 100 global outlets in four years.
Ramsay and Armstrong have targeted Canada and the US as the next stops on the brand’s expansion trail.
Another Aussie Pilates brand, KX Pilates, has also signalled its intention to launch in Singapore. The Reformer Pilates brand recently hit its milestone 100th studio, in Noosa. The business is already operating in New Zealand, Taiwan, India and China.
Studio Pilates just revealed it has signed up an experienced local team to support its growth across the UK and Ireland. It has nine studios in the pipeline.
