This marks its sixth new master franchise deal across EMEA.
Subway has signed a new master franchise agreement with Emerging Bites Holdings GmbH (Emerging Bites) to open 300 restaurants across Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic over the next ten years.
Under the agreement, Emerging Bites will develop and operate Subway restaurants across the five markets and take over support for existing franchisees in the region.
The group will introduce Subway’s latest restaurant design, develop digital ordering and loyalty capabilities, and invest in supply chain, marketing, and operational standards across the markets.
The agreement is Subway’s sixth new master franchise deal across EMEA in less than 18 months.
Previous agreements were signed in Pakistan, Azerbaijan, the Nordics, Spain and Portugal, and Qatar.
Emerging Bites is led by Farshad Abbaszadeh, founder of German Doner Kebab (GDK).
Abbaszadeh founded GDK with a single restaurant in Dubai in 2013 and grew the business into an international franchise with more than 170 restaurants across several continents.
Headquartered in Vienna, Emerging Bites has a team covering the languages of all five markets and experience in Central and Eastern Europe.
