Taipei’s Beloved Huiyyou Waffle Opens First Overseas Branch OOOO Waffle in Central

Taipei’s cult-favorite Korean-style waffle shop has finally landed in Hong Kong. Huiyyou Waffle, known for its thick, cream-filled waffles and devoted following, opens its first overseas outpost on Gough Street under the name OOOO Waffle.

Founded in Taipei in late 2022 by Roro Yen and Blue Lan, the brand was born from a personal moment: after losing a family member, Yen made waffles for her grieving relatives and watched their sorrowful faces soften with each bite. That experience shaped the brand’s mission—to offer small moments of comfort through food.

The waffles themselves are distinctly Korean-style: thick, crispy on the outside, chewy and tender within, generously filled with French cream. The batter includes a touch of coconut milk powder for that signature texture. In just three years, the brand has launched over 100 flavors and sold as many as 1,500 waffles in a single day in Taipei.

Hong Kong gets the top three Taiwanese bestsellers. Chocolate Overload pairs dark chocolate cream with house-made sauce and chocolate crunchies. Pistachio Courtier layers nutty pistachio cream with strawberry, fresh fruit, and sauce. For savory cravings, Seoul’s Crispy Pork Belly tops waffles with Taiwanese pork belly, onions, and Korean spicy sauce.

Two Hong Kong exclusives debut with the Central store. The Secret Menu marks the brand’s first mochi waffle—chewy, stretchy batter customizable with toppings and sauces. Night Market Fried Chicken Basil brings together Taiwanese chicken bites, fish cake (tian bu la), and basil sauce in a flavor never offered in Taiwan.

The O Waffle series—bite-sized rounds on a stick—becomes a permanent menu item in Hong Kong with five tea and alcohol-infused flavors. Kyoto’s Forbidden Kiss pairs matcha with strawberry cream. The Oolong Riviera combines oolong and Tieguanyin cream with salted caramel. Privateer’s Bounty and Tipsy Brandy incorporate rum and cherry brandy respectively.

For take-home indulgence, Icy Sando offers frozen waffle sandwiches in pistachio, strawberry, rum raisin, and mango—ready to pull from the freezer whenever the moment calls.

The Gough Street space features teal tones, curved wall lights, and a three-dimensional light installation of the brand’s white fox mascot mid-leap. Plush sofas and standing high tables offer options for lingering or grabbing a quick bite.
